Janine and Alex celebrated their wedding weekend on the Big Island of Hawaii at the Mauna Kea Beach Resort. Festivities kicked off with an intimate all white welcome party, including a barefoot walk on the beach at sunset. Celebrations continued the following day with guests gathering for a luau on the hotel’s great lawn. The wedding took place at the water's edge, followed by cocktail hour by the beach and an al fresco dinner under a canopy of palm trees and twinkle lights.
From the intentional incorporation of flowers and fashion that set the color story throughout the portfolio to the candid captures of the joy throughout the day, the photographs layer together to create a portfolio that captures both the spirit of the couple and of the spirit of the microcosm created at each of their events.
The couple achieved the best of both worlds hosting a wedding for 160 guests, while also getting the intimate wedding the bride had dreamed of, by having a surprise micro-wedding on the beach with just their immediate families before the larger ceremony on the bluffs.
The couple said their I Do’s (for the second time) on the verdant cliffs overlooking the jagged lava rocks and ocean below. During cocktail hour, guests valet’d their shoes and took to the beach, cocktails in hand, watching as the sky turned from blue to pink and purple. Afterwards, guests made their way to their seaside dinner under a canopy of bistro lights, where they dined and danced the night away.

Celebrations began with an intimate dinner for the couple’s families and wedding party with an all white dress code. Guests kicked off their shoes and grabbed mai-tai’s for a sunset walk, a family tradition of the groom’s father who has been visiting the property annually since the 1960’s.
The couple set a white party theme and all guests wore white except for the bride, who stood out from the crowd in a beautiful white and pink tropical floral print dress.

Festivities continued the following day as guests enjoyed the resort, doing yoga, swimming, and sightseeing around Maui before gathering for a luau on the resort’s beachside lawn.
Guests continued the tradition of the sunset mai-tai walk and were graced with a vibrant Hawaiian sunset that lit up the sky in shades of bright pink and purple. The evening ended with fire dancers and traditional Hawaiian music back on the lawn.
