Kelly and Sanjiv celebrated their wedding week in Sri Lanka with events in the seaside town of Galle before a week of travel with 40 of their friends. The couple decided on Sri Lanka as the perfect destination to honor the groom’s heritage and celebrate in a place with a tropical climate and beautiful vibrant culture.

The rehearsal dinner took place at Garton’s Cape Hotel, where many of the guests stayed, followed by the wedding the following day at the nearby stunning Villa Indisch.

From the candid and romantic portraits to the diverse landscape images around Sri Lanka, the photographs layer together to create a portfolio that captures both the spirit of the couple and the ephemeral microcosm created by the wedding weekend.

The Wedding Day

The couple said their I Do’s in a beautiful garden in the backyard of Villa Indisch, where they stayed for their wedding week right on the water in the surf town of Galle. The garden faced the ocean, shaded from the hot tropical sun by a canopy of palm trees.

Guests enjoyed cocktail hour by the pool and explored the beach at sunset, watching as the sky turned pink. Dinner was served at a long table for 80 guests on the back porch of the villa overlooking the water.

After sunset floating paper lanterns were placed in the pool as guests danced the night away under a canopy of string lights.

Arrival in Sri Lanka

Kelly and Sanjiv celebrated their “trip-of-a-lifetime” wedding week with their friends and family who flew in from all around the world for the occasion.

The couple toured the country with 40 of their closest friends, choosing the seaside surf town of Galle for their wedding celebrations where we met up for some portraits in the town.

The grand landscapes of the countryside, historical sites, and wildlife portraits root the photographs to the ephemeral time and place of their wedding week.

Rehearsal Dinner

Festivities formally kicked off in Galle with a welcome dinner poolside at Garton’s Cape Hotel on the beach.

Guests were treated to a delicious barbecue and fresh tropical fruit and a surprise performance by traditional Sri Lankan dancers.
