A Destination Weekend Wedding in the Moroccan Desert

Behind the Frame

Oliver & Camille

Oliver and Camille hosted their destination wedding weekend in Marrakech, consisting of a stay at the mesmerizing Amanjena resort, a welcome bash under the stars in the Moroccan desert at Scarabeo Camp, and a wedding celebration at the Amanjena and at the bride’s family home in La Palmeraie.

From the intentional selection of each portrait location to the incorporation of Moroccan tiles found in the local Medina in their flat lays, the photographs layer together to create a portfolio that captures both the spirit of the couple and of the ephemeral microcosm created at each of their events.

The Wedding Day

Oliver and Camille’s wedding day celebrated the fusion between Moroccan architecture and the lush beautiful gardens at the bride’s family villa.

The ceremony was held in the villa’s courtyard amongst baskets of fruit and potted trees overflowing with bougainvillea.

Cocktail hour took place on a rooftop terrace followed by dinner under dozens of hanging lanterns that glowed as the sun set. After dinner guests flocked to the villa’s pool, dancing the night away till 4 in the morning.

“As a photographer myself it was delightful and curious to be on the other side of the camera! But with Camille by my side and Rebecca behind the lens, it was absolute bliss.”

Amanjena Arrival

The bride and groom began their celebration by checking into the stunning Amanjena resort, situated within an oasis of palm and olive trees, featuring stunning courtyards and fountains with views of the High Atlas mountains in the distance.

Local details and customs, from fresh mint tea on arrival to camel rides in the desert, root the photographs to an ephemeral time and place.

Rehearsal Dinner

The rehearsal dinner took place in the desert at Scarabeo Camp. Guests were invited to don their best "Austin Powers Meets Morocco" outfits. Guests flocked around the pool for cocktails while the bride and groom made their grand entrance on camels.

Guests walked across the desert camp to beautiful open-air safari tents for dinner, decorated with local desert plants and heaps of spices, paying homage to the local medinas. They dined under a canopy of stars and then danced the night away inside the tents to traditional Moroccan musicians.
